How do I become a Traffic Controller in Queensland?
You must complete this training course RIIOHS205A Control Traffic with a Stop/Slow Bat as specified by Queensland Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and State legislation.
What does the course consist of?
Approximately 8 hours in the classroom covering:
- The theoretical component,
- Practical training in a controlled situation
- Written and practical assessments
Once you have completed the above successfully, you will then be issued with a Statement of Attendance.
We will then place you with a Traffic Control Company to undergo 20 hours minimum, supervised, unpaid practical training using a Stop/Slow bat on an active worksite. You will be assessed on site, and on successful completion, you will then receive a Statement of Attainment.
You will now be able to apply for your licence with Queensland Transport.

| Cost: | $700 - we supply you with your own PPE (Good quality leather safety boots, cargo pants, high visability long sleeved shirt, hard safety hat with shade brim, Traffic Control vest, and sunscreen) or $450 and you supply your own PPE (The practical assessment may incur an additional cost.) |
| Duration: | 8 hours classroom attendance with 20 hours minimum on site practical assessment. |
| Prerequisites: | You must of held a full or provisional driving licence for at least 12 months in the last 5 years. You will also require a current White/Blue Card (Construction Induction Card) |
