Security Courses

Australian Training Academy is a Registered Training Organisation and we deliver our security training courses that are “approved training courses” as defined under the Security Provider’s Act and are recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework.

We endeavour to deliver courses that meet the industry’s requirements and at the same time tailored to the student’s family and/or work commitments. In order to do this we deliver the courses in two parts, one part is a self paced, self study component, and the second part is two interactive days in the classroom. Should additional study days be required then we try to meet that demand at no additional cost to the student. We also offer RPL service at a reasonable rate. We are committed to ensure that the student acquires the knowledge and skills for licencing and work purposes.

On completion of our training you will meet the training requirements to apply for a Security Officer [unarmed] and/or Crowd Controller’s Licence from the Office of Fair Trading, Qld. Once your licence has been approved, you can work as a licensed Security Officer/Crowd Controller in the Security Industry. The qualification meets the licensing requirements in Queensland. If you want to work in security in another state, then we advise you to seek advice on licensing requirements directly from that state’s licencing authority.

In order to ensure that Queensland’s Security Industry deliver security with integrity, a criminal history check may be required by the Office of Fair Trading. There are certain criminal convictions that may disqualify you from obtaining a license. If you have any convictions that you are not sure about, please check with the Office of Fair Trading (link on bottom right of page). The Office of Fair Trading will charge a fee for applying for these licenses.
